Tolmans Hill Park upgrade

Tolmans Hill Park

A major upgrade of Tolmans Hill Park that includes a new, architecturally designed shelter, toilets and BBQ area has been completed.

The upgrade is the result of community consultation that took place in 2020, and builds on the initial park design, which was completed in 2018 after the City of Hobart acquired the land form the state government to build a new, purpose-built playground, the first of its kind in the area.

The new facility allows the community to better enjoy the park and its offerings, including a looped bike track, adventure playground, and exercise equipment.

There are four BBQ plates available in the new facility, accessible toilets, and large picnic tables. An accessible car parking space has been installed as part of the works, with a ramp available for access to the facility.

About the park

Set in native bushland on Old Proctors Road the beautifully landscaped Tolmans Hill Park is home to a looped bike riding track, adult exercise equipment and parking spaces.

It also features modern play equipment such as a climbing net, swings, "rockers" and "spinners", and incorporates the natural surroundings of the area as well as a lawn and picnic area.

The natural landscaping was improved in 2019 when the Mt Nelson Bushcare Group planted out 800 native trees, grasses and shrubs to improve habitat for local wildlife.

Funding

This $1.3 million upgrade was made possible through the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, which contributed $650 000 to the project, with the City of Hobart contributing the rest of the funds.
