Tolmans Hill Park upgrade

A major upgrade of Tolmans Hill Park that includes the construction of a new, architecturally designed shelter, toilets and BBQ area is scheduled to begin in May 2022.

The upgrade is the result of community consultation that took place in 2020, and builds on the initial park design, which was completed in 2018 after the City of Hobart acquired the land form the state government to build a new, purpose-built playground, the first of its kind in the area.

The looped bike riding track and playground will remain open to the public during the upgrade, but there will be reduced parking.

The project is expected to be completed by October 2022.

About the park

Set in native bushland on Old Proctors Road the beautifully landscaped Tolmans Hill Park is home to a looped bike riding track, adult exercise equipment and parking spaces.

It also features modern play equipment such as a climbing net, swings, "rockers" and "spinners", and incorporates the natural surroundings of the area as well as a lawn and picnic area.

The natural landscaping was improved in 2019 when the Mt Nelson Bushcare Group planted out 800 native trees, grasses and shrubs to improve habitat for local wildlife.

This $1.3 million upgrade has been made possible through the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, which contributed $650 000 to the project, with the City of Hobart contributing the rest of the funds.
