Creative Hobart projects

The Lanney Pillar, 2021, in Franklin Square, by Roger Scholes and Greg Lehman

The City of Hobart delivers a diverse range of arts projects in public space.

These are guided by the City's Public Art Framework(PDF, 4MB). This sets out the guiding principles of Excellence, Courage and Connection. It defines a series of possible directions for public works in the city: Inclusive, Interactive, Quintessential, Experimental and Expressive.

The arts in public space offering in Hobart include:

  • permanent public art works
  • temporary installations
  • performances
  • content featured on one of our ongoing arts platforms.

The links below showcase a selection of temporary or permanent public art projects staged or installed in Hobart.
