The City of Hobart and the Tasmanian Government's Department of State Growth manage different aspects of transport for access to and around Hobart.
The City is responsible for the control of most traffic management functions in Hobart and responsibility is shared for traffic regulation signs and road line markings.

The City of Hobart will close local roads for the purposes of conducting special events or to facilitate construction activities.
The City of Hobart is responsible for the design and construction of alterations to roads (other than those controlled by the Department of State Growth).
