Public health

To protect the wellbeing of our residents, the City of Hobart provides an extensive range of public and environmental health programs and services. These include public immunisations; food safety, education and training programs; and infectious disease investigations.

We are responsible for the implementation and enforcement of legislation to meet our statutory public health and environmental health obligations.

We maintain public health in the following areas:

  • food safety
  • immunisation
  • skin penetration (tattooing and ear piercing)
  • places of assembly
  • emergency management.
