Event Grants

The City of Hobart Event Grants program provides grants for a range of events that provide benefits to both the local and wider community. The City of Hobart supports events which:

  • enhance community identity
  • encourage accessibility and community participation
  • support and enhance the cultural life of Hobart     
  • celebrate cultural diversity
  • deliver economic benefits through increased visitation and promotion 
  • enhance the reputation of Hobart as an attractive tourist destination. 

All applications are assessed against assessment criteria. It is important to note that meeting all criteria does not guarantee that an application will be successful.

From the page that is displayed you can register as a user with SmartyGrants and start your application. You can also preview the application form.

Event Grants

Amount: up to $20 000

Key dates: July 2020 - June 2021

Funding to support projects commencing after 1 December 2020:
Applications to this round have now closed. Recipients were notified in November 2020.

Funding to support projects commencing after 1 July 2021:
Grant round opens: Saturday 13 February 2021
Grant round closes: 5 pm Monday 15 March 2021
Notification of results: May 2021

In-kind Venue and Event Resource Quick Response Grant

The In-kind Venue and Event Resource Quick Response Grant assists the community by waiving fees and charges for some City of Hobart-owned event equipment, venues, banners, signage or lighting.

This program provides in-kind support of up to $1000 per application.

Applications open: Thursday 15 July 2021

Applications close: 5 pm Tuesday 31 May 2022

Notification of outcome: Within 10 days of submission of a complete application

Activity timeframe: Activity starts no sooner than one month after the submission date of the application and between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2022.

Event Partnership Grants

The Event Partnership Grant is available for the planning and delivery of major events in the Hobart local government area.

This program provides cash support of over $20 000 per application.

Applications close: 5 pm Monday 26 July 2021

Notification of outcome: October 2021

Activity timeframe:

  • Activity starts between 30 November 2021 and 31 December 2022
