Stories of Resilience
Between February and May 2019, story producer Helene Thomas and photographer Eddie Safarik interviewed community members across the Hobart region who were affected by the May 2018 extreme weather event. Their stories have been developed into an audiovisual collection of podcasts, images and a documentary video and can be accessed from the Stories of Resilience website:
The aim of the site is to record valuable community reflections of the flood event for posterity and to assist with future recovery efforts and preparedness.
A short trailer below provides an intriguing glimpse into the eight podcasts and documentary film available on the site:
The Stories of Resilience project report(PDF, 910KB) describes the project methodology in more detail and provides a snapshot of key themes that emerged from an analysis of all the recorded stories.
This project has been jointly funded by the Australian and Tasmanian governments under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.
