Climate Ready Hobart
"Please make it urgent. Real urgent."
– Member of the Hobart Climate Assembly, March 2024.
The community spoke, we listened.
Climate change is happening and impacting Hobart.
Every tonne of climate pollution we cut now, will save lives in the future.
Each step we take to increase our capacity to cope with worsening climate-driven impacts, will help us recover faster and build back better.
Responding to climate change requires everyone to act.
This is why the City of Hobart has launched the Climate Ready Hobart Strategy to guide what we can to do together to respond to the climate and biodiversity emergency as we move towards 2040.

The strategy presents high level goals to:
- Mobilise Hobart – helping everyone to take action
- Zero emissions Hobart – tackling the root cause of climate change by reducing emissions
- Climate resilient Hobart – improving our capacity to adapt and cope
- Lead as a capital city – how the City of Hobart as a municipal organisation will lead by example
The City of Hobart has a strong foundation in taking climate action for more than twenty years and we can do more by working together with the community.
