86 Argyle Street, Hobart (The Ocean Child Inn)

The Hobart City Council Planning Committee has refused a development application for partial demolition, alterations, and extension for hotel industry for 86 Argyle Street Hobart (The Ocean Child Inn).

The application was refused because the proposal would: result in the loss of historic cultural heritage significance; be an incompatible design in terms of height, scale, bulk, form, fenestration, siting and materials; not be subservient and complementary to the listed place; and detract from the historic cultural heritage significance of the listed place.

Further information about the proposals can be found in the agenda for the Planning Committee here.
