Next time a City of Hobart parking and information officer approaches you with a ticket, you may be in for a pleasant surprise.
This winter, the City of Hobart as part of its Warm Hearts campaign, is spreading warmth in an unexpected way – by giving away 50 tickets to the iconic Dark Mofo Winter Feast.
But instead of running an online competition or social media giveaway, we're doing something a little more personal.
On June 3 and 4, our parking and information officers will be out and about across the city – not just keeping things moving but handing out the good kind of tickets to people they meet during their rounds.
Parking and information officer Mandy said it was terrific to be handing out the Winter Feast tickets.
"We are thrilled to be a part of Dark Mofo Winter Feast in giving away some free tickets to our customers who make it back in time to their vehicles," Mandy said.
"To see the look on their faces when they think they are receiving a fine and I hand them a free Dark Mofo Winter Feast ticket they are very surprised and happy.
"One man gave me a big hug and said, 'Thank you very much.' He couldn’t believe it and the smile on his face was priceless, the reaction from the public is so much nicer then when you hand them a fine.
"Another quote I heard a customer say as I was walking off after handing them the free Winter Feast ticket was, 'Wow, that was a nice gesture to give away something free instead of a parking fine.'
"The public are a little shocked that we are giving out free tickets instead of a fine.
"It is lovely to give some good vibes back to our customers in the city."
This is all part of the City of Hobart's Warm Hearts campaign – a small but heartfelt gesture to celebrate the kindness, connection, and community spirit that make Hobart shine – even in the coldest months.
Each lucky recipient will receive a double pass to the Winter Feast, valid for any night of the event.
