Pipeline Track resurfacing

We've improved a section of the Pipeline Track in the foothills of Kunanyi / Mt Wellington.

We have resurfaced the track between the Twin Bridges and the Fern Tree Creek bridge at the Neika end of the track. A fresh gravel surface has been put down, and we have improved water drainage.

Care was taken to avoid impacts on the heritage of the track and associated infrastructure.

Damage over time

The Pipeline Track is one of our most popular recreational tracks. Especially with families, young kids, bike riders and walkers.

The wide, open track follows the historic Mountain Water Supply System all the way from Wellington Falls on Kunanyi / Mt Wellington to Waterworks Reserve in Ridgeway.

However, the high number of people who use the Pipeline Track, combined with many years of wild mountain weather have slowly worn down the track surface. This caused issues with drainage and vegetation.
