Open Spaces Survey

Where do you go in Hobart for a bit of green open space? A place to take in the fresh air, reset your mind, walk the dog, run, walk, cycle, play with the kids, kick a ball or just relax with a good book?

It could be a city park or garden, a walking, running or bike track in one of our beautiful bushland reserves, or maybe it is a spot along the foreshore?

We want to find out what our community loves about Hobart's green open spaces and which open spaces are your favourite. Understanding what our community values will help us better manage and plan these spaces in the future.

We will use the survey results to publish a list of Hobart's top 10 favourite open spaces on the City of Hobart website and choose will share the best of your photos and stories.

Riding in Waterworks Reserve

Off the beaten track: Is your favourite open space one of our beautiful bushland reserves. Maybe Knocklofty or Waterworks Reserve? Perhaps the Queens Domain is your special spot.

Playtime: Where do you take the kids for playtime? Is it the Train Park? Maybe the playground at Cornelian Bay or Long Beach in Sandy Bay with its great play equipment and the lovely walk out to Blinking Billy Point?

Park life: Which of Hobart's beautiful parks is your go to when the sun is shining and you want to spend time with friends or family, or maybe just read a book under the shade of a tree? Is it Franklin Square? Princes Park?

Work it out: Do you have a favourite running track, sports field or circuit that gives you a great physical workout while breathing in Hobart's clean, fresh air? Does the sea breeze running through Sandown Park in the afternoon make it a hit with you? Or maybe the Domain Athletics Centre is more your thing?

Pooches on parade: Hobart is a city of dog lovers. Where do you take your pooch when it's walkie time and why does your pooch love their Hobart hotspot so much?

Your daily commute: Does your daily commute to work by bike or walking take you through one of Hobart's open spaces on one of our tracks or trails? What impact does that have on the rest of your day?

Why take the survey?

Green open spaces include public spaces like our bushland reserves, city and urban parks, foreshores, playgrounds, sportsgrounds, tracks and trails.

The City of Hobart wants to know which are our favourite open spaces and how people value them to help better manage and plan these spaces in the future.
