Review of Dog Management Policy
The Dog Management Policy is under review.
We are seeking specific feedback on the new draft Dog Management Policy and proposed Declared Areas. Declared Areas are where dogs can and cannot be, and where dogs are allow on-lead and off-lead.
The draft policy and proposed Declared Areas can be viewed here:
Submissions can be made by emailing coh@hobartcity.com.au or visiting the Your Say Hobart page.
Current Dog Management Policy
The City of Hobart is responsible for managing dogs in our municipal area, and operate within the Dog Control Act 2000.
Our Dog Management Policy regulates the use of public areas by pet and non-pet owners. It aims to encourage a happy, caring, safe and mutually respectful environment.
It provides information on a variety of things, including:
- the code of responsible dog ownership
- the provision of declared areas such as off-lead, on-lead, training, prohibited and restricted areas
- guidance on how to register a dog or apply for a kennel licence.
