Dog Management Policy

The City of Hobart is responsible for managing dogs in our municipal area, and operates within the Dog Control Act 2000.

Our Dog Management Policy regulates the use of public areas by pet and non-pet owners. It aims to encourage a happy, caring, safe, and mutually respectful environment.

It provides information on a variety of things, including:

  • the code of responsible dog ownership
  • the provision of declared areas such as off-lead, on-lead, training, prohibited, and restricted areas
  • guidance on how to register a dog or apply for a kennel licence.
