Youth ARC are hosting an event is called YARC Fest that will take place on Saturday 13 April at the Youth Arts and Recreation Centre (1 Marketplace, Hobart).

The City of Hobart Youth Programs celebrates Youth Week annually.

This year's Youth Week theme is Community Connection: Our Community, Our Voice.

City of Hobart YAS members have been in planning for this event since December 2023 and have come up with a plan to expand the community's knowledge of what Youth ARC has to offer and also give opportunity for young makers, performers to promote themselves and make an income using their creative talents.

From the graphic design to the eclectic line up of artists YARC Fest is conceived and delivered by youth - for youth!

Attendance to this underage event strictly 12-25 only. Tickets on sale now!

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Can I come and go?

No, YARC FEST has a no pass-out rule, meaning you cannot leave the venue once you have been scanned through.

Food and drink

You are welcome to bring in outside food. We provide food and non-alcoholic drink options inside the venue. No drinks to be taken into the venue. Unopened and empty bottles of water are fine.

Youth Arts and Recreation Centre (YOUTHARC) is an alcohol-free venue, meaning there is no bar inside and we will not let you in if we suspect you may be drunk or pose a risk to others. YARC FEST also reserves the right to confiscate any alcohol at the door.

Can I bring a parent?

No. Attendance to this underage event is strictly 12-25 only. Registered support workers can attend; they will need a ticket and provide a WWVP card upon entry.

I've never been to a festival and my parents are worried

Youth ARC has a large team of crowd controllers, youth workers, carers, first aiders and security on site all night. We've run the Youth arts and Recreation Centre for nearly 20 years and have a ton of experience putting on safe, fun, friendly gigs for young people. You can even ask one of our friendly City of Hobart staff to wait for you in the pick-up zone after the event has finished if you like!

How do I get there?

Youth ARC is located in the Hobart CBD, please visit Trip planner - Metro Tasmania for public transport options.

Is there parking and drop off areas?

There will be a drop-off zone set up on Market place (directly outside YOUTH ARC) for uber, taxi or car drop off/pick up. Paid parking is available 24/7 across the road in the Market Place Carpark and you can find nearby free on-street parking after 5pm.

Accessibility

Strobe lights may be used during the event. Please contact YOUTH ARC for any specific accessibility questions. The venue is wheelchair accessible and will include a quite room / sensory space for use under supervision of City of Hobart staff.

Are the tickets transferable?

Yes. We don't mind whose name the tickets name is under, as long as you are aged 12-25 and have a valid ticket to enter!

Can I smoke or vape at the festival?

No. There is no smoking or vaping inside the venue. Market place is within the smoke-free city zone so we ask that you do not smoke outside the venue for the comfort and health of all patrons.

Can I bring a bag?

We ask if you need to bring a bag that it is a small bag only, no backpacks allowed inside the venue. All bags are checked on the way in and no smoking paraphernalia, will be allowed inside the festival.

YARC Market

A Youth Makers Market celebrating creativity in many forms by young people aged 12-25.

YARC Market is a FREE family-friendly all ages event.

The day will bring together of up to 20 young makers that will be selling their handmade items. Alongside the market there will be activities provided by Beaker Street Festival , YoYo Demonstrations, Instax photo booth, live Edge Radio broadcast and an interactive art mural designed and facilitated by a Youth ARC's longest standing participant Taly Hamilton.

The Market will be running from 1-5 pm.


YARC Live for Youth Week 2024

YARC Live is the second part of YARC Fest. YARC Live gives

opportunity for young artists to perform exclusively to their peers in an incredibly supportive, safe, accessible and inclusive environment.
