We have started work replacing the sandstone wall bordering the South Hobart Playground.

We will also be replacing the asphalt footpath on the western side of Darcy Street – the footpath and sandstone retaining wall are in urgent need of replacement.

Project site map

This project is expected to take four months to complete, with work carried out Monday to Friday, 7 am to 4 pm.

The 11 mature street trees lining the footpath will be protected.

What to expect

Traffic management will be in place to ensure a safe work site and help minimise disruption.

Access to nearby residences will not be impacted and waste collection will continue as usual.

The footpath will remain closed until the works are complete. For your safety please follow directions.

Darcy and Washington streets will remain open to vehicles. On-street parking will be unavailable at times.

Parking will be temporarily removed from both sides of the street within approximately 30 metres of the work zone to allow for two-way traffic.

When temporary parking restrictions are in place, "no standing" signs will be erected the night before. Please observe parking restrictions or fines may apply.
