Pay my rates
There are a number of ways you can pay your rates.
Online
Internet payments can be made by Visa or Mastercard:
Pay online
Call your bank, credit union or building society to arrange payment from your cheque, credit card or savings account.
BPAY
Contact your bank or financial institution to make payment from your cheque, savings, debit, credit card or transaction account.
Please refer to your rates notice for your BPAY reference number.
BPAY View
Rate notices can be sent to your financial institution with BPAY View.

Direct debit
If you would like to arrange payment by direct debit you can do so by completing the request for direct debit (rates payment) form.

Telephone
If you hold a Visa or MasterCard, you can call 1300 886 745, 24 hours a day, every day.
Please have your rates notice with you when paying by phone.
Payment in person
Bring along your intact rates notice to make a payment at the Hobart Council Centre, 16 Elizabeth Street, Hobart between 8.15 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Receipts for cheques are subject to due collection of money. Post-dated cheques will not be accepted.
Australia Post
Payment is accepted at all Australia Post offices and must be made by the due date, presenting an intact rates notice.
Due dates
Rates are paid each financial year (1 July to 30 June).
Payments can be made as one payment on the 1st instalment date, by two equal amounts on the 1st and 3rd instalment dates, or in four equal instalments on the due dates shown on the rates notice.
An annual rates notice is sent out in July followed by instalment reminder notices before each due date.
