Hobart burns bright for Dark Mofo

Hobart comes alive during June as Dark Mofo returns, with venues across the city offering a diverse program of unofficial events, dining experiences and late-night activations to complement the festival’s official lineup.

Hobartians and visitors can explore the city at night from 11–22 June to experience pop-ups, performances and winter rituals spanning food, music, art and wellness activities.

The Hello Hobart team has been scouring Hobart's streets and alleyways after dark to bring you their Ultimate Guide of what the locals are up to during the annual Dark Mofo winter festival.

Indulge yourself

Local eateries are embracing the festival season with late-night offerings, including Fico’s popular Midnight Pasta, Bar Wa Izakaya’s Midnight Ramen and extended trading hours at cafés such as Cult Logic. Bars and venues including Twisted Lime, Pablos, The Den and Rude Boy are hosting live music, DJs and themed events during the festival.

Across the city, spaces such as the State Library and Archives of Tasmania are opening after dark with programming exploring ritual and mysticism, while waterfront experiences include Kuuma’s floating sauna sessions.

Community-focused events will also feature, including youth programming at Dark YARC and a range of accessible live music, dining and cultural experiences designed to activate Hobart’s streets, laneways and venues.

No matter the time of day or night something will be happening, from early morning coffee gatherings to late-night dancefloors, Dark Mofo continues to deliver a strong economic and cultural boost to the city while encouraging locals and visitors to embrace Hobart’s winter identity.
