Join us and celebrate the hundredth anniversary of St David's Park in Hobart.

To mark the occasion we are putting on a free garden party with Devonshire tea and a brass band playing in the rotunda.

A Tasmanian string folk band will also put on a show.

Tables and chairs will be provided beneath the rotunda while the bands play, and as Devonshire tea is served.

Let us know you are coming by booking a free ticket on Humanitix.

Actors in period costume will roam the park, transporting the audience back in time to when this park was first unveiled to the public 100 years ago.

We will also have special guest speakers talking about the cultural and heritage significance of the park over the past 100 years as well as some of the more interesting trees planted in St David's.

The event will include the ceremonial planting of two giant sequoia trees to replace the two lost earlier this year.

This is a great chance to explore the history of one of Hobart's most beautiful and important parks.

Schedule of events

  • Devonshire tea will be served at 10am, followed by a performance from the rotunda by the Tasmanian Heritage String Ensemble at 10.30am.
  • There will be an official welcome at 11.20am with a heritage talk from local historian Brendan Lennard at 11.30am.
  • The ceremonial planting of two young giant sequoias, replacing the two lost earlier this year, will take place at 11.50am.
  • Performance by Hobart and Glenorchy brass bands at 12.15pm.
