Did you know that walking just 3,800 steps a day, around 3km, can reduce the risk of developing dementia by 25%?

As part of Dementia Action Week, 21 to 27 September 2026, the community is invited to take positive steps towards dementia awareness, prevention and hope by joining the Dementia Walk for Change.

In Tasmania, around 11,200 people are living with dementia, with that number expected to increase significantly in coming decades. This year's Dementia Action Week theme, "It's Time to Talk About Dementia", encourages all of us to foster greater understanding, empathy and inclusion.

Bring your family, friends, colleagues and walking shoes and join us for a relaxed community walk and conversation.

Together, we can help raise awareness, reduce stigma and create a more dementia-friendly Tasmania.

This event is proudly supported by the City of Hobart, Glenorchy City Council, Kingborough Council, Sorell Council, City of Clarence and Brighton Council.
