Join Bushcare and get active for nature

25 February 2026

Bushcare volunteer on the New Town Rivulet.

Want to join the hundreds of volunteers who get out into Hobart's beautiful bushland parks and reserves every weekend controlling weeds and protecting wildlife habitat?

The City of Hobart's Bushcare program supports 14 Bushcare and Landcare groups and makes it easy for anyone to get involved in caring for their local patch of bushland.

You don't need any experience or skills to become a Bushcare volunteer – just enthusiasm, commitment, good physical mobility and a sense of fun! It helps if you love getting your hands dirty too!

Each group plans monthly activities, which include removing environmental weeds, creating and restoring wildlife habitat, planting trees and shrubs, and even wildlife monitoring!

You could be hunting out the woody weed karamu in Wellington Park, helping to restore the native grasslands on the Queens Domain, or planting Hobart Rivulet habitat for our platypus.

You can download the latest Bushcare working bee program(PDF, 5MB) to find out which events you want to attend.
