Car parks

The City of Hobart offers a range of short-term parking options across the city centre.

These include daily parking options, accessible and pensioner parking, as well as designated all-day parking on Saturdays only.

Stay for longer in the CBD by using our multi‐storey car parks, in which the City provides more than 2500 parking bays. This option is cheaper than on‐street parking and includes free parking for the first 60 minutes.

Argyle Street Car Park

38 Argyle Street, Hobart

Vehicle entry to this car park is from Argyle Street (between Collins and Liverpool streets), with pedestrian access from Wellington Court and Wellington Centre. There are eight disabled access parking spaces that are all located in close proximity to the elevators. There are 1155 parking bays, with a height restriction of 2 metres.

There are two 22kW electric vehicle charging stations in Argyle Street Car Park. These are located on Levels 1 and 2, next to the entry lift and stairwell.

Public toilets are located in the car park foyer, and a parenting room is located on Level 1.

Bicycle lockers are available for a fee, but users are required to provide their own lock.

Access directly to the Wellington Centre and Royal Hobart Hospital via the skybridge is available on Level 3 of the Woolworths side of the car park. There are additional accessible parking spaces and pay stations located at the walkway to these services.

The City of Hobart operates a free wheelchair hire scheme for people shopping in the city centre for a few hours. For enquiries about wheelchair availability please phone 03 6238 2780. Centrepoint Car Park

35 Victoria Street, Hobart

Vehicle entry to this car park is from Victoria Street, with pedestrian entry available from Victoria and Murray Streets, and Centrepoint Shopping Centre. There are 16 disabled parking spaces all in close proximity to the elevators. There are 782 parking bays, with a height restriction of 2.1 metres.

There is a 7.4kW electric vehicle charging station in Centrepoint Car Park. This is located on Level 1, in the space on the left after you enter.

Hobart Central Car Park

60 Melville Street, Hobart

Vehicle entry to this car park is from Melville Street (between Elizabeth and Murray Streets), with pedestrian available from from Melville and Bathurst Streets. There are 10 disabled parking spaces all in close proximity to the elevators.

The car park has 456 parking bays, with a height restriction of 2.2 metres. The public toilet and parent room facilities are located on the ground floor of the car park.

There are two 7.4kW electric vehicle charging stations in the Hobart Central Car Park. These are located in the first spaces on the right after you enter.

Condell Place, North Hobart

Payment method: Meter

The Condell Place Car Park is open 24 hours each day, but most parking is limited to 3 hours between 9 am and 9 pm, with meter payment required between 9 am and 6 pm.

There are also 10 parking spaces limited to 30 minutes.

There are 83 parking spaces, including 10 thirty-minute unpaid spaces and 2 disabled parking spaces.

Lefroy Street Car Park

The Lefroy Street Car Park is open 24 hours each day, but parking is limited to 3 hours between 9 am and 8 pm, with meter payment required between 9 am and 6 pm.

Multi-storey car park fees

Multi-storey parking fees

Visitors are encouraged to use the City's multi-storey car parks which provide longer time at a lower cost for visitors to our city than short‐stay on‐street parking bays.

Reduced fee parking schemes

City of Hobart's Pensioner Voucher Scheme makes parking cheaper for all pension card holders in our city. The scheme offers a book of parking vouchers to eligible Pension Card holders.

The Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) allows eligible patients and/or their families to park in any of the City of Hobart's multi-storey car parks for a reduced fee while using certain facilities.

After hours vehicle release

If you discover your vehicle is locked in one of our car parks, it may be released after hours by phoning security on 03 6105 0420. A fee is payable on release in addition to any daily parking fees.

The City of Hobart offers long-term monthly parking at the following locations:

  • Argyle Street Car Park
  • Salamanca Square Car Park (both motor vehicle and motorcycle only parking)

Cancellation

Cancellation of a long-term parking space must be made in writing and takes effect as of the end of the month. Refunds of payment to the end of the month are not made.

Replacement swipe cards

If you lose your swipe card for Hobart Central Car Park, Liverpool/Barrack Street Car Park or Salamanca Square Car Park, please phone 03 6238 2150 to order a new card.

The City of Hobart has installed multiple electric vehicle charging stations in City car parks.

Argyle Street Car Park

There are two 22kW electric vehicle charging stations in Argyle Street Car Park. These are located on Levels 1 and 2, next to the entry lift and stairwell.

There is a 7.4kW electric vehicle charging station in Centrepoint Car Park. This is located on Level 1, in the space on the left after you enter.

Dunn Place Car Park
