Resilient Hobart: Preparing for flood

You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about local flood risks, access practical preparedness information and connect with organisations that support our community before, during and after emergencies.

The Resilient Hobart: Preparing for Flood event will feature local emergency services, community groups, preparedness information, children's activities and plenty of opportunities to meet neighbours.

The day will bring together residents, emergency services, community organisations and council staff in a relaxed, family-friendly setting with:

Flood preparedness information and resources.

• Children’s games and activities.

• Chats with the SES General Response Unit.

• Practical advice and local knowledge.

• Opportunities to meet your neighbours.

In May 2018, an extreme weather event brought heavy rainfall, strong winds and flooding across Hobart. Parts of South Hobart were particularly affected, with floodwaters causing damage to homes, roads and community infrastructure.

Following the floods the South Hobart community came together to deliver the 2018 Flood Resilience Project, which supported recovery through art, connection and celebration of resilient community.
