Art From Trash is an annual exhibition that promotes and celebrates art of all kinds, made with ‘trash’ materials. Anyone and everyone is welcome to exhibit their work, and every year the exhibition features over 100 artworks - from school students to esteemed and nationally recognised artists.

At its core, Art From Trash is about diverting waste from landfill and shifting how we value materials. Over 30 years, the exhibition has showcased thousands of artworks and helped divert literal tonnes of rubbish from the waste stream - proving that creativity is a powerful tool for environmental change.

The exhibition encourages artists to think differently about the materials they use, invites children to see waste as opportunity, and connects communities through shared responsibility and joy. Each artwork is a conversation about consumption, reuse, and our collective impact.

Run by Resource Workers Cooperative - the organisation behind the South Hobart Tip Shop - Art From Trash is an independent, not-for-profit exhibition dedicated to transforming discarded materials into meaningful works of art. For three decades, it has challenged the idea of waste by showing the creative and cultural value hidden in materials otherwise destined for landfill.

Entry is free, with donations welcome. Drinks and snacks will be available.
