The Gardens are filled with roses, rhododendrons and mature copper beeches, elm, oaks, and plane trees.

Apparently, it started life as a landfill site but was turned into gardens in the early 1900's.

It is tucked on the cusp of the CBD and Sandy Bay and hemmed by traffic with the Southern Outlet on its western side and to the north by Davey Street.

The Gardens is in two levels, with steps leading down to a smaller but (in autumn) often spectacular section of the gardens. The Gardens offer public convenience facilities and provides a quiet ambience for family outings with a small playground for children.

Enter Fitzroy Gardens from Fitzroy Crescent or Digney Street.
