Soak up Sunday vibes at Salamanca Market

One of Tasmania's most visited tourist attractions, Salamanca Market, is moving from Saturday to Sunday on this Anzac Day weekend.

Market organisers are aiming for a more relaxed Sunday market experience, one that creates an opportunity for families often busy with Saturday sports and other activities to venture down to Salamanca.

You can expect the same iconic market on Hobart's waterfront beneath Salamanca's historic sandstone buildings, with street food, buskers, arts and crafts.

Fresh produce suppliers will be there and we're putting on free face painting for the kids.

The RSPCA will also be part of this special Sunday market, offering puppy parking - including treats - in exchange for a $10 donation to this valuable charity.

The market day change has been made out of respect for Anzac Day commemorations, which fall on a Saturday this year.

A Hobart ritual

People from across the world and here in Hobart have relished exploring Salamanca Market's stalls for more than half a century.

It's all about the eating, the drinking, the makers and the growers.

It's an opportunity to talk directly with the people who make and produce the incredible diversity of wares on sale every week and to indulge yourself in a special treat.

Visitors can browse handmade jewellery, original artworks, woodcraft, fashion, ceramics and unique gifts, many of which are created by local artisans. It’s the perfect place to find something truly one of a kind while supporting small businesses and local makers.

Food lovers are equally well catered for. The market is famous for its fresh, locally sourced produce, gourmet treats and ready-to-eat street food. From artisan cheeses and baked goods to fresh berries and hot coffee, the flavours of Tasmania are on full display.

So come down for this special Salamanca Market day, and soak up the Sunday vibes.
