1. Cheer on the Devils at Tasmania’s home of football
Experience the excitement of Tasmania’s newest sporting powerhouse when the Tasmania Devils VFL and VFLW teams take the field at historic North Hobart Oval. The VFL side takes on the Gold Coast Suns at 11.05am, followed by the VFLW clash against the Geelong Cats at 2.35pm. Pack your scarf, rug up and join the crowd as Tasmania’s men’s and women’s teams defend home turf in one of the state’s great sporting venues.

2. Make a splash at the School Holiday Splash
When the weather turns chilly, head indoors to the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre for the popular School Holiday Splash program. Running on weekdays during the school holidays from 11.30am–3.30pm, kids can enjoy giant inflatables, waterslides, diving boards and play zones. There's even a quieter "Chill Out Hour" from 2.30pm for families wanting a more relaxed experience.

3. Build swimming skills with an intensive program
Looking for a holiday activity that combines fun and learning? The Intensive Holiday Swim Program runs from 13–17 July 2026 at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre. Children aged 4–16 years can participate in daily lessons designed to accelerate skill development, boost confidence and improve water safety. A Mini Squad option is also available for older swimmers.

4. Enjoy a theatrical staycation
The Theatre Royal Staycation School Holiday Program offers a range of creative experiences for young people during the winter break. Highlights include The Lost Tiger (14 July), Paper Planes (15 July), Blueback (16 July) and free craft activities in the theatre foyers. It’s a wonderful way to introduce children to live performance while staying warm indoors.

5. Bake up a storm at Community Bake Days
Gather the family and head to Legacy Park for a cosy winter Community Bake Day on 12 July 2026. Bring pizza dough, bread, scones or your favourite recipe and use the community wood-fired ovens with help from the on-site Oven Coordinator. While food is cooking, children can explore the nature-based playground and enjoy the open green spaces.
