Volunteers in the City of Hobart
The City of Hobart recognises the importance of volunteers and the valuable contribution they make to the Council’s operations and to the City. The Council engages approximately 700 volunteers through different programs.
Mathers House (formerly 50 & Better Centre) and Criterion House
Volunteers assist in providing meals, tutoring, administrative support and program support to promote positive ageing.

Youth Arts and Recreation Centre
Volunteers develop and undertake innovative youth participation and development programs to create capacity building opportunities for young people aged between 12 and 25.

Volunteers work with community bushcare groups and the City of Hobart to help enhance wildlife habitat, protect threatened flora, maintain and develop tracks, and educate the community.

Volunteers raise awareness of the health benefits of daily gardening, provide information about low maintenance gardening, and support the wellbeing of its clients while assisting them to address garden maintenance. Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre
Volunteers provide assistance, advice and a friendly welcome to visiting tourists, conference delegates and locals. The program is mainly based around the arrival of cruise ships from October to April, however we also 'meet and greet' at the Hobart International Airport on Fridays.

International Student Ambassadors
Volunteers represent International students by being involved at events such as Citizenship Ceremonies, Harmony Day, Volunteer Recognition Reception, Sister City events as well as being involved with other key community activities.
