About We Stand Together Against Racism (WeSTAR)
The We Stand Together Against Racism (WeSTAR) campaign was created in response to rising reports of racist behaviour and growing fear among migrant communities in Tasmania.
To take a unified stand, the six councils of Greater Hobart — Brighton, Clarence, Glenorchy, Kingborough, Sorell and Hobart — came together to address racism collaboratively and promote a more inclusive, welcoming Tasmania.
The councils developed an awareness campaign that emphasises that racism has no place in our community and offers practical ways for individuals to take action. The campaign features local community representatives and highlights the strength, resilience and diversity of Tasmanian communities.
