The City of Hobart welcomes the Royal Hobart Show back to the heart of the city, with last year’s event attracting more than 45,000 attendees—a 5% increase on 2023, which itself saw a 7% rise in patronage.

Held at the Hobart Regatta Grounds while redevelopment of the Royal Showgrounds continues, the Show’s return to the city has proven a major drawcard for families, schools and visitors from across Tasmania.

Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said the strong numbers reflect the community’s enthusiasm for the event.

Presented by the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania, the Show offers hands-on experiences, top-level competitions, and free entertainment for all ages. This year, the event will run from October 23–25, with additional sections and activities held throughout the year to keep the excitement going.

Quotes to be attributed to Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds:

“It’s fantastic to see so many people embracing the Royal Hobart Show in its city setting.

“The Show is a celebration of everything we love about Tasmania—from our agricultural roots to our vibrant urban culture—and the growing crowds show just how much it means to our community.

“We’re proud to support an event that continues to grow and evolve while staying true to its heritage.

“It’s a great example of how Hobart brings people together.”

Quotes to be attributed to Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania CEO Scott Gadd:

“We continue to experiment with evolving the Royal Hobart Show into a more contemporary and appealing option.

“Behind the scenes we have been working diligently on the value for money proposition and are pleased to note that at least one food provider in 2025 will have traditional show fare for nothing over $8.

“The Regatta Ground has proven to be an excellent venue for the Royal Hobart Show, and we sincerely thank the City of Hobart for their ongoing support. That support makes a genuine difference to our operation.

“At this stage it is possible that we will need the ground again in 2026 but we are still striving to get the Glenorchy site ready in time for next year’s Royal Hobart Show.”
