The community is being invited to celebrate the rewilding of the mouth of the New Town Rivulet at a special event on Saturday 8 November, 1-4 pm.
It follows a hugely successful planting day on Saturday when 130 volunteers dug in and planted 1800 native trees and shrubs along the New Town Rivulet as part of a huge community effort to help rewild the mouth of the rivulet.
The community celebration day will include face painting for the kids as well as Bush Adventure activities - see below for details.
We have free ice-cream - until it runs out! And there will be free plant give aways for your garden.

You can also take home one of 200 native plants and chat to our waterways team about how we rewilded the New Town Rivulet estuary from a concrete wasteland into a beautiful, natural environment.
Bonorong, the Derwent Estuary Program, New Town Community Association and the Rotary Club of North Hobart will also join us. So come and say hello!
The community celebration day is a chance to explore the New Town Rivulet estuary like you've never seen it before.
Discover new tracks. Wonder at restored wetland habitat. Marvel at returning birdlife.

Where to find us
We will be at the mouth of the New Town Rivulet, on the headland park looking out into New Town Bay at the end of Marine Esplanade.
Important: Due to limited onsite parking at the venue, attendees are encouraged to car-pool, walk, cycle or use public transport where possible.
If onsite parking is unavailable, street parking in nearby roads will be the alternative – please plan accordingly.
Bush Adventures
Celebrate our waterways at the New Town Rivulet community celebration day this Saturday.
Join Bush Adventures for a hands-on clay play workshop celebrating themes of water, waterways and wildlife.
This interactive drop-in workshop invites families to be inspired by our local animals, flowing water and the plant life that define this once-concrete-lined estuary now re-wilded.
Drop in anytime and shape native creatures, flowing river patterns and wild imaginings from fresh clay — no experience needed, all ages welcome.
It's a perfect opportunity to celebrate the renewal of a treasured local waterway, deepen community connection to nature and make a unique clay memento to take home.
Experience the magic of transformation firsthand — just like the rivulet itself, a little clay and water can become something beautiful and alive.
When: Saturday 8 November, 1–4pm.
Where: New Town Rivulet Estuary Restoration Site.
Hosted by: City of Hobart Bush Adventures program.

Rewilding the rivulet
The $2 million project to rewild the New Town Rivulet began in February this year and is a collaboration between the City of Hobart and Glenorchy City Council.
The project includes new walking tracks and the planting of almost 30 000 native trees, shrubs, water plants and grasses.
