The community is being invited to celebrate the rewilding of the mouth of the New Town Rivulet at a special event on Saturday 8 November, 1-4pm.
Green thumbs and nature lovers are also being called on to help. We need volunteers from both sides of the rivulet to help plant up to 800 native trees and shrubs the weekend before – Saturday 1 November, 10am to 1pm.
Celebration day
The community celebration day is a chance to explore the New Town Rivulet estuary like you’ve never seen it before.
Discover new tracks. Wonder at restored wetland habitat. Marvel at returning birdlife.
There will be free face painting and ice-cream for the kids as well as a coffee van with nibbles.
You can also take home one of 200 native plants and chat to our waterways team about why this project is so important to rewilding this special place.
We will be at the mouth of the rivulet at the park looking out into New Town Bay.

Rewilding the rivulet
The $2 million project to rewild the New Town Rivulet began in February this year and is a collaboration between the City of Hobart and Glenorchy City Council.
The project includes new walking tracks and the planting of almost 30 000 native trees, shrubs, water plants and grasses.
