Immunisations for high school students

The City of Hobart delivers the National Immunisation Program (NIP) to high school students. This is called the School-Based Immunisation Program (SBIP).

We provide vaccines to students in year 7 and 10 in the local government area.

Year 7 students receive:

  • Gardasil | Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
  • Boostrix or Adacel | Diptheria, Tetanus & Pertussis (dTpa)

Year 10 students receive:

  • MenQuadfi | Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY)

More information about the MenACWY vaccine

The MenACWY vaccine provides protection against the meningococcal A, C, W and Y strains. Only a single immunisation is required.

This vaccine does not protect against the B strain. There is a separate vaccine for the B strain which is available through private prescription.

If you do not wish your child to be vaccinated please sign the consent form in the "no" box and return to your school.

We deliver the program at the following schools:

  • The Fahan School
  • The Friends School
  • Hobart City High School (Ogilvie Campus)
  • The Hutchins School
  • Lambert School
  • Mount Carmel College
  • Sacred Heart College
  • St Mary's College
  • St Michael's Collegiate

Missed vaccinations

If your child has missed their vaccination at school, they can get it at many pharmacies.

This is also a great option for parents or children who are hesitant about school immunisations.

We recommend contacting your pharmacy beforehand to check that:

  • they are able to deliver school-based immunisation program vaccines
  • the pharmacist immuniser is available
  • the required vaccines are in stock.
