Diwali Festival of Lights
Diwali or Deepavali is a festival of lights and is a major celebration on the calendar of people from the Indian subcontinent.
The festival is usually celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika (between mid-October and mid-November).
Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists. Diwali symbolizes the spiritual 'victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.'
In Tasmania, the annual Diwali festival is held in Franklin Square presented by Deepavali Tasmania Inc.
As one of Tasmania's unique multicultural festivals, Diwali Tasmania looks forward to celebrating this year's Diwali to fill lots of joy and happiness in everyone's life.
The fair includes multicultural stage performances, dance, music, kids and youth activities, food stalls, art, and cultural exhibitions.
Proudly supported by the City of Hobart.
