Weeds and vegetation

Weeds and invasive vegetation can threaten Hobart's natural ecosystems, infrastructure and beauty.

Our control programs target high-risk areas across the city. We use a mix of manual, mechanical and chemical methods to manage growth and protect biodiversity. We're committed to minimising herbicide use and exploring sustainable alternatives wherever possible.

Residents who prefer to manage weeds themselves can apply to join the No Spray Register. This allows property owners to opt out of roadside spraying near their homes. However you must commit to maintaining the area to a safe and satisfactory standard.

Some weeds require coordinated removal due to their environmental impact. We work closely with the community to plan and communicate these efforts.

Together, we can restore and protect Hobart's wild heart.
