240-244 Murray Street planning application

The proposed development at 240-244 Murray Street, Hobart, will replace the current vacant commercial building with a contemporary five-storey office building.

The proposal features three levels of office space, ground floor hospitality, and a rooftop terrace and meeting rooms.

Architectural elements include street-level glazing, textured and tinted pre-cast panels on the upper levels. A raking south-western wall is included to respond to the adjacent heritage building and surrounding urban context.

The architectural approach aims to integrate the scale and character of nearby residential and commercial properties, with subtle references to Hobart's historical union marches.

The proposal extends into the Municipal Road Reserve and will be subject to the Closure of a Public Highway under s14 of the Local Government Highways Act.
