Elizabeth Mall Booth EOI
The City of Hobart is inviting suitably qualified and motivated individuals, organisations, and enterprises to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) application to occupy and activate the freestanding Council-owned Elizabeth Mall Booth located within the Elizabeth Street Mall.
This follows a Council decision made on 21 July 2025 to run a two-stage EOI process. The goal is to find an external organisation to make good use of the Booth, which is owned by the City of Hobart.
The Booth is located in a key public space in the CBD. It's currently not in regular use and has only been used occasionally for City events. Through this EOI, we hope to find a group or business that can bring energy and benefit to the community by activating the Booth and helping make Elizabeth Mall a lively and welcoming place.
The Expression of Interest (EOI) process is now open. We are inviting submissions until 5 pm Monday 27 October 2025.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Where is the Booth?
It's in Elizabeth Mall, right where it connects with Wellington Court.
Why is it empty?
It used to be a small hub for the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre. That stopped in February 2024, and it's no longer needed for that purpose.
What's the EOI for?
We're looking for an organisation that can use the Booth in a way that benefits the community and adds life to the Mall.
Who can apply?
Any external organisation, including community groups, not-for-profits, social enterprises, or businesses.
How does the process work?
- Stage 1: Submit your initial idea.
- Stage 2: If shortlisted, you'll be invited to submit a detailed proposal.
We aim to make a final decision by the end of 2025.
Where can I find the EOI documents?
They'll be available on the City of Hobart website from 10 am on Monday 6 October 2025.
When does the application period open and close?
Applications open 10 am Monday 6 October and close 5 pm Monday 27 October 2025.
How do I lodge an application?
Download and review the Expression of Interest (EOI) documentation.

Will the Booth be used in the meantime?
Yes! It will support City events like the Christmas Pageant and Gift Wrapping. We're also exploring other short-term uses until a long-term user is selected.
