Public Interest Disclosures
The City of Hobart is committed to the goals of the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2002 (the Act). It does not tolerate improper conduct by employees, officers, or members. The City also protects those who come forward to report such conduct.
The City values transparency and accountability in its management practices. It encourages disclosures that highlight the conduct the Act aims to address.
The City will take reasonable steps to protect those who make disclosures from retaliation and to ensure their welfare. It will also provide natural justice to all parties involved in investigating a disclosure.
The City implements the Act through its Public Interest Disclosure Procedures(PDF, 727KB).
Additionally, the City has adopted a Whistleblowing Policy(PDF, 201KB). This policy ensures that elected members, employees, contractors, sub-contractors, and the public understand the requirements and receive support for reporting serious or improper conduct.
