Hamilton Street footpath upgrade

Hamilton Street footpath upgrade

The City of Hobart is undertaking pedestrian improvement works on Hamilton Street from Dalton Avenue to Hill Street, funded jointly by the Vulnerable Road Users Program of the state government and the City of Hobart.

These improvements include pedestrian kerb ramps and kerb bulbings at intersections with Dalton Avenue, Butterworth Street, and Hill Street. We are also installing traffic island, signs, and line markings on Hamilton Street between D'emden Street and Hill Street to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce vehicle speeds.

The primary goal of this project is to make walking safer and more comfortable, with a particular focus on Lansdowne Crescent Primary School students and parents.

The construction began in September and is expected to be completed by late November, weather permitting. To ensure safety, traffic management will be in place from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.

Please note that some driveways may have temporary access restrictions, on-street parking may be temporarily removed, and sections of the footpath may be closed for reconstruction with temporary pedestrian crossings as needed. Recycling and rubbish collection on Hamilton Street will not be affected.

The City of Hobart will do its best to minimize disruptions during the construction, considering safety requirements. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this essential work.
