Hobart Community Awards

It is time to shine the light on those inspirational citizens among us through the city’s most prestigious awards program – the Hobart Community Awards.

Part of the national Australia Day Awards program, the Hobart Community Awards are an opportunity to recognise and honour individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the Hobart community during the past 12 months.

Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said nominations for the 2023 awards are now open, and encouraged residents to think of those who have showed resilience, compassion and community spirit given what have been challenging times.

“These awards are the chance to honour those citizens who think of community first, whose actions and deeds have made Hobart a better place to work and live,” Cr Reynolds said.

“It is an opportunity to think of those who have had a positive impact on your life and to reward them for their selfless pursuits to make Hobart an even better city, and I encourage you to nominate them so they have the chance to receive their much deserved recognition.”

Hobart’s reigning 2022 Citizen of the Year is Li Wang for her work in building cross-cultural bridges and inclusion by facilitating volunteering opportunities for international students and migrants.

Nominations are also open for the 2022 Young Citizen of the Year award and the 2022 Hobart Community Initiative or Event of the Year award.

“These awards are due recognition to our previous winners but now it is time to find and honour the next batch of Hobart’s outstanding citizens,” Cr Reynolds said.
