Beach wheelchair for children trialled at Nutgrove Beach this summer

Published on 29 December 2017

The City of Hobart and Surf Lifesaving Tasmania have partnered to provide a beach wheelchair for use by children with disabilities at Nutgrove Beach, Sandy Bay. This is a trial program for the 2017/2018 summer, with data on usage to be collected during the trial period.

The wheelchair will be located at Nutgrove Beach, Sandy Bay on weekdays from 9 am – 4.30 pm from Tuesday 2 January – Monday 5 February, and is managed by Surf Life Saving Tasmania. The chair can be pre-booked by phoning Surf Lifesaving Tasmania on 03 6222 6555.

Throughout the trial period, data on usage and demand will be collected and analysed, to asses whether there is sufficient demand to renew or extend the program next year.
