Anti-Poverty Week Launch

Anti-Poverty Week 2021

Please join us for the launch of Anti-Poverty Week 2021.

Anti-Poverty Week (17-23 October) is a time for the community to have an increased understanding of poverty and to take action collectively to end it. It coincides with the United Nations Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 17 October.

As one of the wealthiest countries in the world, it is not right that 1 in 6 Australian children grow up in poverty. Raising income support above the poverty line and investing in social housing are two key actions that can unlock poverty for individuals, families, and children.

Come listen to Angela Finch's personal story together with speeches from Captain Kim Haworth, The Salvation Army Tasmania's State Leader, and Councillor Anna Reynolds, Lord Mayor of Hobart. ABC presenter Guy Stayner will MC the event.

To RSVP your attendance, please contact community@cityofhobart.com.au or call 03 6238 2100.

A calendar of events is available from the Anti-Poverty Week website.
