Myer 2018 Hobart Christmas Pageant


The Myer 2018 Hobart Christmas Pageant was held on Saturday 17 November to celebrate the beginning of the festive season in the City of Hobart. This year’s event attracted 65 entries and thousands of people lined the streets of the Hobart city centre to watch the parade.

About the Pageant

About the The Myer 2018 Hobart Christmas Pageant was held on Saturday 17 November at 10.30 am to celebrate the beginning of the festive season in the City of Hobart. 65 entries from the community, charities and local businesses participated this year.

Special guests included Erth Dinosaurs, a t-rex and a couple of leaellynasaura. After the Pageant the dinosaurs were available for photos and a meet and great at Parliament House Lawns, between 1– 2 pm. 

Also appearing in the parade was Shrek, Fiona and Donkey from Fairy-tale Land. After the Pageant, Santa was available at the Myer store from 12 midday.

The pageant route was  be slightly different this year as it commences in Liverpool Street outside Dumpling World and paraded along Liverpool Street, up Harrington Street and returning down Collins Street. .

The City of Hobart would like to acknowledge our naming rights sponsor, Myer, for their significant ongoing support of this community event and our 2018 media partners, Mercury, 7HOFM and WIN Television.

An accessible viewing area will be available opposite the main stage in Liverpool Street.


Free Parking

Due to road closures for the Pageant on Saturday 17 November there were changes to car park access. A map is provided below for more details. The city centre parking meters and the Regatta Grounds are free.

Argyle Street Car Park  

 7 - 9 am

1 - 10 pm

Argyle Street will be closed to traffic from 9 am to 1 pm. Please note you need to be parked in this car park prior to 9 am and won’t be able to leave until 1 pm.  

Centrepoint Car Park

8 – 9.15 am

1 – 5.15 pm

Harrington Street will be closed to traffic from 9.15 am to 1 pm

Trafalgar Place Car Park

7 am – 5 pm

Free shuttle bus

The bus will run from Salamanca Market to the Regatta Grounds between 9 am and 3 pm, with the last shuttle bus returning to the Regatta Grounds by around 3 pm.
