The City of Hobart Bushcare program provides an opportunity for the community to work with us to make Hobart's bushland a better place.
Founded in 1993, Bushcare is coordinated by the City of Hobart. Each week, we provide direct support to volunteers working within 17 Bushcare groups across the city, from Cornelian Bay to Wellington Park, Sandy Bay and beyond.
On average, 120 people volunteer for Bushcare each month. With additional field days and special events, Bushcare volunteers contribute over 3000 hours each year to regenerating local bushland and raising awareness of the issues in their local area. Bushcare also provides support to schools and other organisations undertaking community-based care of the city’s bushland.
Bushcare volunteers are making a huge difference to the bushland areas they work through bush regeneration, track development and maintenance, and community engagement. Bushcare provides volunteers with a sense of purpose and an opportunity to be part of something meaningful, while having fun, making friends and learning something new.
