The event begins from 3.45 pm, followed directly by the big festive reveal at 4 pm.

Is this event COVID-19 safe?
Santa is Coming to Town! operates under a COVID-19 safe event plan. Measures are in place to manage the COVID-safety of all patrons, staff, volunteers and performers.
Do I need to check in?
Patrons are required to use the Check in TAS app when entering the event site. Patrons who do not have access to the Check in TAS app will be provided with a device or alternative method to check in.
Do I need to wear a mask?
Public Health has not mandated mask wearing as a requirement for this event.
Why is this event ticketed?
Ticketing helps with managing COVID-19 capacity requirements and ensures the comfort and safety of all patrons.
Do I need a ticket?
Yes, a ticket is required to secure your entry to the opening of Santa is Coming to Town! on Saturday 4 December only. In the unlikely situation the event doesn't reach maximum capacity, patrons without tickets may be permitted entry, however, please be advised this is not guaranteed.
Do children require tickets?
Yes, all children must hold a valid ticket and be accompanied by a ticket-holding parent or legal guardian. The requirement for all patrons to have a ticket enables us to adhere to the capacity limit of our COVID-19 safe event plan.
What if I'm late?
Please note the opening event begins from 3.45 pm. Entry after 3.55 pm cannot be guaranteed because we may open access up to our waiting list if applicable.
What if my friend or another family member doesn't have a ticket?
The best way to ensure friends and family can attend this opening event is to send them the link to secure a free ticket. In the unlikely event the opening doesn't meet maximum capacity, patrons without tickets may be permitted entry, however, this is not guaranteed.
What if it rains?
This is an outdoor event. The event will proceed in all-weather conditions if it is deemed safe but performance times/content may be varied. Please come prepared with protective clothing and sunscreen.
Will there be food and drinks available?
Food and drinks will not be available for purchase at the event. We encourage patrons to visit the many food and drink outlets nearby. Make sure to bring a refillable water bottle with you in case it gets hot!
Is alcohol or smoking permitted?
This is an alcohol and smoke-free event.
Where can I park?
Road closures will be in place around the city for the annual MRA Toy Run prior to our event starting at 3.45 pm on Saturday 4 December. For more information, please see the MRA Toy Run website. The City of Hobart is providing free parking at the Regatta Grounds on Saturday 4 December from 2 – 8 pm.
There are a number of car parks within walking distance of Mawson Place. You can find out more on the car parking page. There are a limited number of accessible parking spaces available on Franklin Wharf.
Filming and photography
Please note, filming and photography will take place at this event. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed please advise staff and volunteers at the gates.
