Each year during the Christmas and Taste of Summer period the City of Hobart hosts free parking at the Regatta Grounds. This year we're bringing back the bus! Park & Ride is back!

You can park your vehicle at the Regatta Grounds and a free shuttle bus will transfer you and your passengers to the city or waterfront!

Shuttle bus operating times

The Christmas shuttle bus operates Monday to Saturday, commencing Monday 9 December to Tuesday 24 December 2024 | 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.

The Taste of Summer shuttle bus operates Saturday 28 December 2024 to Saturday 4 January 2025 | 12 noon to 8 pm.

The New Years Eve (Tuesday 31 December 2024) shuttle bus operates 11.30 am to 1 am Wednesday 1 January 2025.

Gate opening and closing times

The gates at the Regatta Grounds open 15 minutes prior to the start of each shuttle bus service and are locked 30 minutes after the shuttle bus service ends. Vehicles are not able to exit once the gates are locked. 

Shuttle route and stops

The bus will run a continual loop, departing from the Regatta Grounds car park, stop at the bus stop on Murray Street (outside the Treasury Building), stop at bus stop on Morrison Street (outside Mission to Seaferers), then return to the Regatta Grounds on a continual loop. The service is expected to take around 15 mins each loop.

Passengers can get on and off the bus at any of the 3 stops.

To access the Regatta Ground car park follow McVilly Drive until your pass the public toilets, the entrance is signposted.

The shuttle bus is wheelchair accessible. The bus seats 51 passengers. Prams are welcome.

Access outside regular hours

If the gates are locked, please contact 03 6238 2711 to retrieve your vehicle. A duty officer may be available to assist after hours.
