2017 Myer Hobart Christmas Pageant

The 2017 Myer Hobart Christmas Pageant was held on Saturday 18 November to celebrate the beginning of the festive season in the City of Hobart. This year’s event attracted 60 entries and 35,000 people lined the streets of the Hobart city centre to watch the parade.

About the Myer Hobart Christmas Pageant 

 The 2017 Myer Hobart Christmas Pageant will be held on Saturday 18 November at 10.30 am to celebrate the beginning of the festive season in the City of Hobart. This year’s event will have a number of interesting and unique entries.

This year's special guests will be the popular Peppa Pig, as well as local talent from the upcoming Mary Poppins musical. Peppa Pig will head the pageant for a loop aboard Hobarts Red Decker bus. After the parade Peppa will be available for a meet and greet at the Elizabeth Mall, from 12 - 12.20 pm and from 12.45 – 1.05 pm. Children will also be able to meet Santa in the Myer store, from 1.30 – 2 pm.

The pageant route commences from the new starting line in Liverpool Street near the corner of Argyle Street, travels down Liverpool, up Harrington Street and finishing at lower Collins Street. 

A free shuttle bus will be travelling from the Regatta Grounds, to Dunn Place and continuing onto Salamanca Market in a continuing loop from 9 am – 2 pm, for those wishing to view the Pageant or do some Christmas shopping.

The City of Hobart acknowledges our naming rights sponsor, Myer, for their support of this significant community event.

Parking

Parking will be free at the City of Hobart multi-storey car parks, city centre parking meters, and the Regatta Grounds on Pageant day. However, due to rolling road closures on the day, some car parks will be unable to be accessed for a period of time during the pageant.

Centrepoint Car Park - free all day

Open from 8 am – 9.15 am and 1 pm – 5.15pmom 

No access for vehicles from 9.15 am - 1 pm

Argyle Street Car Park - free all day

Open from 7 am – 9 am and 1 pm – 10 pm

No access for vehicles from 9 am - 1 pm

Trafalgar Place Car Park - free all day

Open from 7 am – 5 pm (unaffected by the Pageant route)

The Hobart Central Car Park - free all day

Open from 8 am – 5.30 pm (unaffected by the Pageant route)

Dunn Place Car Park - free all day

Open from 8 am – 5.30 pm (unaffected by the Pageant route)

Market Place and Vodafone car parks are unaffected by the Pageant route, and usual fees and charges will apply. These car parks will not be free on Pageant day.
