Expressions of Interest

Launched in November 2018, The Loop is large-scale outdoor public screen located in the courtyard in front of the University of Tasmania student accommodation in the Midtown precinct of Hobart.

The Loop screens a daily cultural program throughout the year. Programming is managed by the City of Hobart’s Public Art team. Ongoing programming of the screen will present a diverse collection of screen-based media including short films, documentaries, feature films, experimental films and interactive and non-narrative digital art.

The Loop takes submissions of content all year round. For more information, please email the City's Public Art team on publicart@hobartcity.com.au

How to participate

  • We are seeking expressions of interest from film and video practitioners, curators and organisations who work with screen-based artistic content.  Appropriate formats include: short films, documentaries, feature films, experimental films and interactive and non-narrative digital art.
  • High quality artistic work, both narrative and non-narrative is sought.
  • Curators and film programmers are encouraged to submit complete programs of content for consideration.
  • Depending on the nature and quantity of work submitted, licensing fees may be offered in some instances.
  • Community-based and amateur artistic content will also be considered for some programming streams.
  • The Loop also provides a venue for special screening opportunities, events and festivals.
