PERSONALISED LEARNING PROGRAM
Youth ARC Personalised Learning Program
(PLP) aims to re-engage young people in education and learning.
Youth ARC PLP is an initiative of the Department of Education
(DoE), Learning Services South, in partnership with the Hobart City
Council.
Youth ARC
PLP works with young people in years 7 to 10.
Youth ARC PLP supports young people to:
- Develop their
skills in Literacy, Numeracy
and Vocational and Applied Learning;
- Undertake a
‘Big Picture’ project, based on an area of interest to them;
- Re-engage with
mainstream education;
- Make a
transition into an Academy, Polytechnic or other recognised learning
environment;
- Undertake Work
Placements and Internships;
- Develop
strengths and qualities that will help them to succeed in education,
training, employment and community life.
Youth ARC PLP
provides a safe, supportive and flexible program.
Young people work with teachers and youth workers.
Learning occurs in groups and via one-to-one tuition.
Young people and staff are required to show Respect and
Responsibility, to Participate and to maintain Safety.
Each young
person’s acceptance into Youth ARC PLP is subject to:
- Them having a
current enrolment with a DoE school in the Learning Services South
area;
- The young
person having absences for one term or more of schooling;
- Their school
making a referral to Learning Services South (a referral form is
available);
- An assessment
of the referral by the Learning Support Leader, Learning
Services South in conjunction with the program Manager and school
support staff;
- The young
person’s preparedness to work within the guidelines of Youth ARC
PLP.
