The Hobart City Council's cycling strategy Bikeplan was compiled in 1997. The full strategy can be viewed at Council's Office.
A Principal Bicycle Network has been developed and has been approved by Council. This is now the key document leading Council to develop its arterial cycling network. Some routes have now been constructed and detailed planning is proceeding on other routes including Sandy Bay Road and the Hobart Rivulet.
Information about the Sandy Bay Road Walking and Cycling project is available.
The Hobart Rivulet planning project is in its initial stages and project information will be shortly available on this website.
A Draft Hobart Regional Arterial Bicycle Network Plan has also been prepared by the Greater Hobart Councils and CyclingSouth, with the assistance of the DIER and the Australian Government's Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.
