The Council is responsible for maintaining and replacing most of the physical assets within the road reservation. These include the road, footpaths, street lights, seats, trees, stormwater pits, street signs, barriers and services.

The Council is responsible for the control of most traffic management functions in Hobart. The provision of traffic regulation signs and road markings is a shared responsibility with the State Government's Dept of Infrastructure Energy and Resources (DIER).
