The North South Track was officially opened on Monday 5 December 2011.

The North South Track is a 10.5 kilometre long shared use track within Wellington Park that links The Springs to the Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park, the two most popular mountain bike riding destinations in Tasmania.

The North-South Track has been listed as an 'iconic wild ride' as it provides "world-class trail experiences located within the wild landscapes of Tasmania" (Tasmanian Mountain Bike Plan 2009).

The project has been a collaborative effort between the Hobart City Council, the Glenorchy City Council, the Wellington Park Management Trust (www.wellingtonpark.org.au) and Sport and Recreation Tasmania.

Level of difficulty

The North South Track was designed and built to suit mountain bike riders and walkers of moderate abilities and levels of fitness. This standard equates to a 'Blue Square' trail under the International Mountain Bicycling Association trail difficulty guidelines and a Class 3 track under the Australian track classification standards.

How to get there

The track can be accessed from The Springs and Shoobridge Bend on Pinnacle Road and the Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park (see map attached).
