The City of Hobart has released its new Cultural Strategy - Creative Hobart.
This document is the culmination of a project which started in ealy 2012 and included extensive consultation, workshops and surveys with both the local cultural sector and broader community. It was unanimously endorsed by the City of Hobart in late 2012.
Creative Hobart places an increased emphasis upon the importance of the cultural and creative sectors in building community wellbeing and economic viability, and through this creating a culturally rich sense of place, positioning Hobart as a truly creative City for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
A key focus of this approach is that the City will move to being a 'supporter/facilitator' working with a range of external cultural sector stakeholders and partners, rather than being simply a 'provider' of cultural programs.
